"Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit" (Seirei no Moribito) is a fantasy adventure anime based on the first book in the twelve-volume Moribito series of Japanese fantasy novels by Nahoko Uehashi. The story revolves around a skilled spear-wielding female bodyguard named Balsa who is tasked with protecting a young prince, Chagum, who carries a mysterious spirit from another realm inside him. This spirit is prophesied to bring a major calamity to the kingdom, leading his father, the emperor, to order his assassination. Balsa, haunted by her past and seeking atonement, is determined to protect Chagum at all costs. As they journey together, they encounter various mystical creatures and face numerous challenges, with Balsa having to use her combat skills and cunning to overcome them.
